I wrote AwardStat so that I could easily post award statistics on the Smokin' Award
website (see Winners page). All I need to do is edit a few
labeled lines of code by putting in the values for Gold, Silver, Bronze, No Award, Revoked
and Pending each time my statistics change. The code does the rest - totaling the
applicants, calculating the percentages and even drawing a bar chart.
Can I use AwardStat?
Yes! The code is freeware so that other award webmasters may use it on their sites.
Just click "Make an AwardStat Table" at the bottom of this page. You will be presented with a
form where you can change the appearance and the award list so as to match the awards offered
on your site. Upon submitting the form, the program will generate two pieces of code, one is
the JavaScript AwardStat file itself and the other is the code that you place within the
HTML file where you want the table to be shown. Now you will only need to change a few numbers
within your HTML file periodically to set the values of your awards.
As an option, you can also easily change the first word in the header of the table. This way, if
you want to have several different tables showing the statistics of your award over the years,
you can have different headers for each. For instance, one can read, "Statistics for 2000," another,
"Statistics for 2001" and so on.
What do I need to use AwardStat?
To create an AwardStat table, your browser must support JavaScript.
Also, some elementary knowledge of HTML is a plus, so that you know the
proper syntax to change the table's font and hexadecimal code for colors.
Terms of Use
The JavaScript file produced by the generator is freeware. All that I ask is:
That you do not remove or change the copyright notice (the first four
commented lines) in the JavaScript code awardstat.js.
To send me a quick Email with the http address of the page(s) where you are
displaying the statistics. I will then add a link to your awards site at the
bottom of this page. If you do not want your site listed please say so. I
will also send you any updates I have made to AwardStat.
A link back to this page, http://smokin.kvrr.net/awardstat.html, so that
others can access this code. An AwardStat link is already provided at the
bottom of the statistics table. You have the option to remove this if you want.
But if you do, please add it somewhere else on the page where you are displaying
the statistics.
You have permission to display the AwardStat banner below if you:
Follow the directions below to copy the graphic and to save it
on your local server. Bandwidth stealing is a no-no.
Do not alter or resize the banner.
Link the graphic back to http://smokin.kvrr.net/awardstat.html
as described below (You may add a target attribute within the link <a> tag if you want).
AwardStat banners
Here is a small banner that you can use to spread the word about this
valuable awards program resource. If you wish to use it,
right-click on the banner and select "Save Picture As..."
or "Save Image." Then copy the code beneath and paste it in
the HTML page where you want to display it. If you need any help doing this,
please contact me.
