Bottom menus on ALL pages have been shortened and a new Sitemap
link has been added.
Contact, on the bottom menu, now links to three new mail form pages
rather than the default mail program. Depending on which section you are in, the Contact
link will either take you to the Contact Railroad Award Sites

Contact the Smokin' Award page.

Things to know about Copyright and Trademark Laws. The
© & ® link was removed from the criteria menu.
You can now take a Self-Test to determine how well your site
may score for a Smokin' Award. A 'Test' link has been added to the
Criteria menu.
I've added more to my credentials on the Judge page.
Applicants can now ask for a copy of their evaluation sheet on the
Apply page.

After a hiatus of several months the Railroad Artists Award is back online! It is now
on active status in Railroad Award Sites.
Three links
have been added to the Criteria page to better explain pop-up
windows, external sites within a frameset and bandwidth stealing.
A new pattern GIF has replaced the transparent Gifs within all of the
AwardStat tables.

I've gotten a lot of spam from the old email address smokin@kvrr.net. You can send the
Smokin' Award an email by replacing "smokin" with "smokina" in the old address.
In an effort to confuse harvesting 'bots, my email links are now written in the ISO-Latin-1
character set.
The application on the Apply page now submits to a new form
processor called Biz Mail Form. |

Congratulations to Precision Label for winning a Bronze award!
"Definitions" in the criteria section was renamed to "Points." All points on
the criteria page were broken up and placed in their respective criteria category. All bullet points within
the criteria section were replaced with lantern graphics.
There are now three more rules listed on the criteria page that a site
must meet in order to be evaluated for a Smokin' Award. A privacy policy statement is
required (mainly for commercial sites), previous Smokin' Awards must be displayed, and the applicant
must be affiliated with the site submitted.
"Image Quality," now worth three points, was moved to the Design page to make
room on the Content page for "Copyright Statement." This new piece of criteria
is worth four points, so read it carefully.
Nashua City Station has revamped its award program to include the three-tiered City Station Awards.
See Railroad Award Sites. Also, Dave's Tracks of Excellence Award
was found, but since I have not heard from the webmaster, it has been placed in the
No Response page. |

graphic and criteria.
Several changes were made to the Apply page. Track graphic dividers

I will no longer post the webmaster's name in the winners list description. Therefore, the

offline. The webmaster assures me that it will be up soon.
An article that I have written for Website Awards has won Editor's Choice. A badge
for this has replaced the Ask the Experts graphic on the Judge page. |

Happy New Year!
Welcome Bygone Monon Cyberspace Awards, a new award that you can
apply for!
The general criteria has changed whereby a site must not practice bandwidth
stealing and not open an external site within its framework in order to qualify.
The user list for AwardStat was broken up into two columns.
A minor change was made on the © & ® page. In order for
a site to qualify for the Smokin' Award you must state on a logical place on your site
(no longer on the page that the work is on) that you have received permission to do so.
