The All Aboard Web Award started in 2005, when its sponsor site, All Aboard N Scale Trains, came online. The only criteria is that the website should somehow be train related. The webmaster put it best when he said, "This is just something that gives people incentive to make their sites look fabulous and I enjoy giving them out." To apply, go to the "Train Whistles" page and click the award to send an email application. Winners are not listed onsite.

Back to award site list "Great Site" Award
Link to AMRA Web Awards
The "Great Site" Award is one of two offered to railway related sites by the Australian Model Railway Association. The criteria is exact and looks to be quite challenging. Site Construction makes up 20% of the score; followed by navigation at 20%, design at 30% and Content making up the remaining 30%. A site receiving 80 points or more is honored with an award and will be listed on the winners' page. As an extra bonus, sites that obtain at least 91 points, have the chance of winning the coveted "You've stuck Gold" Award, offered to only one site a month.

The railroad-related Green Light Award has changed from a single award to this well designed four-tiered program. The criteria is broken up with Content and Design being 30 points each and Construction and Navigation 20 points each, making a total of 100 points. An additional six "Green Light Special" points can also be achieved. At least 70 points will capture a merit award, 80 for bronze, 88 for Silver and 96 for gold. Back to award site list Hermann's Railroad Award
Link to Hermann's Railway Page
This award is offered by a site on German steam railways. Hermann is the name of the webmaster, and his site is in German, but he has thankfully translated it to English. His site is also home for the Steam Locomotives SiteRing. The criteria list to qualify follows; no adult or illegal material, railroad-related, no links-only sites and it must be interesting enough for return visits. He photographed the beautiful locomotive shot on the award at the main station of Regensburg. A nice thing is that Hermann will allow you to scale the award if you're tight on space.

Ed St.George has a passion for Eastern American railroads, as his site suggests. While surfing the web, when he comes across a site he likes, he will leave his mark of admiration in the form of an award. His site lists the Top Sites that he has awarded. There are currently no criteria of any kind listed on his site but as Ed puts it: "the exceptional site gets the award." You can point his way to your site either by email or an entry in his guest book. The picture on the award was taken at The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority at the Readville Facility, ME. Ed wrote: "...two EMD/AMF Techno-Transport GP40MC locomotives and their trains having completed their prime-time runs snooze in the hot mid-day."
Back to award site list Nutsplitter's Great Site Award
Link to Oh Canada
This general website award is sponsored by Canada My Home Sweet Home website whose webmaster was a "nutsplitter" - a railroad mechanic who could split a nut using a chisel without damaging the bolt threads. The link to the site's award page (Page-13) is found near the bottom of the home page and displays the awards this site has won as well as this simple awards program. The award, featuring the Southern Pacific Daylight No.4449 in Los Angeles, can be won as long as the applicant website is family friendly. Winners can choose the award in one of two sizes (shown is the small version!) but have the option of scaling down the award further if desired. There is no winners list. This AP began in January of 1999.
Back to award site list Railroad Artists Award
Link to Railroad Artist
There are several things that sets Roger Gilbert's award apart from the rest. First, since Roger is an artist, the award emphasizes artistic and creative content, which makes up 25% of the total score. Second, a site may be selected for an award without even applying if it meets the criteria. If you apply and your site does not initially win, Roger will graciously send you a report on areas that he thinks your site is weak in. A list of winners is displayed. This AP opened in 2001.
Back to award site list Railway Resource Awards
Link to Railway Resource Awards
Steve's Railway Pages offers resource awards for sites that contain a lot of useful information on a specific topic. There are three different awards for three different topics; Model Railways (Shown), UK Railways and Australian Railways. This AP began in January of 2003 and displays a list of winners with descriptions.
